The film Seagulls of the Morning Sea won the Gucci Impact Award at the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards.

Director Park Yi-woong expressed gratitude to the cast, saying, “This is a story I’ve held onto since 2008.”

The award honors works that highlight issues of social inequality and fairness, with this year’s theme being “Sailing Toward Hope.”

The Baeksang jury selected the film from five finalists that demonstrated both artistic merit and social insight.

Set in a small fishing village, the film tells the story of a young fisherman who fakes his own death and the family left behind, unaware of the truth.
