Veteran actress Chae Shi-ra will make her debut as a dancer, 40 years after beginning her acting career.

She will take the stage on May 10 as the Queen of the Underwater Palace in Dansim, a new production celebrating the 30th anniversary of the National Jeongdong Theater.

Dansim is a modern reinterpretation of the classic Korean folktale Simcheong, focusing on the protagonist’s inner journey.

Although Chae performed a dance piece during the 45th Seoul Dance Festival last year, this is her first official appearance in a dance production.

Reflecting on her debut, she said, “Before becoming an actress, I dreamed of being a dancer — this feels like a dream come true.”
